WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as the two conference rivals faced one another in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School.
Webster City’s girls took control from the get out, leading 19-4 after the first quarter, which ballooned to 41-4 at halftime. Backups would play much of the 2nd half for the Lynx as Webster City coasted to a 65-4 victory.
Evie Davis finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals, while Jaylyn Bahrenfuss had 13 points and 4 assists, as Tristyn Wright had 7 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. CGD stats were not available on Bound as of Monday morning.
The boys game followed as CGD took an early 11-10 advantage after the first quarter, but the Lynx hung around, trailing 22-19 at halftime. CGD got separation in the 3rd quarter, leading 37-28 headed into the 4th. Webster City would make a rally late, but the Cowboys would prevail 43-38.
Chaz Lane led all scorers with 19 points for CGD, along with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks, as Huxley Lingenfelter added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Webster City was led by 12 points from Coyce Bertran, as Alex Staley added 9 points.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Monday night, as they travel to Rockwell City to take on the South Central Calhoun Titans in non-conference action at South Central Calhoun Middle School at 6 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Pocahontas to take on the Pocahontas Area Indians in non-conference action at 6 PM.
