CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into far-northern Iowa to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx girls entered at 3-4, while the Lynx boys entered at 2-3.
Clear Lake brought the intensity on the defensive end in the opening quarter, limiting the Lynx to just a free throw to take a 13-1 lead, pushing the lead to 27-10 at halftime. The Lions kept the pressure on Webster City throughout the 2nd half as the Lynx fell to the 15th-ranked team in 3A 63-28.
Evie Davis led the Lynx with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Jaylyn Bahrenfuss had 5 points. Jacelyn Ainley led Clear Lake with 22 points.

The Lions then blew the game open in the 2nd quarter with a 25-5 frame, grabbing a 34-9 halftime lead. Webster City’s offense would pick up some in the 2nd half, but would not be enough in 67-29 loss to the #2 team in Class 3A.
