DES MOINES, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to the state capital to take on the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Casey’s Center in downtown Des Moines. The Hawk girls entered at 3-5, while the boys entered at 0-8.
South Hamilton’s girls were able to open things up early on Perry, leading 18-10 after the first quarter, extending the lead to 30-19 by halftime. Perry would keep things even in the 2nd half, but South Hamilton would be able to settle on a 56-38 victory.
Emma Lammers led the Hawks with 11 points and 3 assists on Tuesday, as Adelyn Trask had 9 points with 3, three-pointers, as Izzy Swenson and Kaylen Trask each had 8 points.
The boys game followed as South Hamilton kept things close in the opening frame with Perry, trailing 12-10 after the first, but the Bluejays offense sprung to life in the 2nd quarter to grab a 33-16 halftime lead. The Bluejays offense kept up the pace in the 2nd half putting up 42 points to come away with a 75-39 victory.

South Hamilton basketball returns to action on Thursday, as they host the St. Edmond Gaels in non-conference action at South Hamilton High School, with tipoff at 6:30 PM.
