Roland-Story basketball sweeps Iowa Falls-Alden in non-conference action

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in non-conference action at Roland-Story High School. The Norse girls entered at 6-1, while the Norsemen entered at 5-1.

Defenses would rule early on in the girls game, as Roland-Story led 10-4 after the first quarter, a lead that grew to 24-13 at halftime. The Norsemen offense would then pick up the pace in the 2nd half and hold the Cadets in check for a 57-31 victory.

Junior Riley Johnson had another stellar night for the Norse, finishing with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals, while Ali Johnson added 11 points off the bench. Brinley Carlson would contribute 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals as well.

The Roland-Story boys would take little time in dominating the Cadets, as the Norsemen led 20-7 after the first quarter, doubling that lead by halftime at 41-14 at the halftime break. Roland-Story would slow things down a little in the 2nd half, but still managed a big 70-33 victory.

Junior Eli Van Hove finished with a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, as Colin Willis had his own double-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Caden Burress would finish with 5 points and 7 assists off the bench.

Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Tuesday, as they make the trip to Monroe to take on the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at PCM High School with tipoff at 6 PM.
