A snowy December for Webster City and a look back at 2025 weather.

Snow and cold. The words define Webster City’s December weather. It was a month of above normal precipitation and near normal temperatures for Webster City in the weather statistics compiled at the Radio Hill weather reporting station. December was a month that brough 16 inches of snowfall to Webster City. There were times of blizzard like conditions wreaking havoc on the  highways and disrupting holiday shopping in the area. The latest was this past Sunday and Monday, December 28th and 29th. Temperatures for the month was 30 degrees for the average high with the average low of 9 degrees. The coldest day of 2026 happened the morning of Thursday, December 4th with a low of 19 degrees below zero. The low shattered the reading of 11 degrees below zero set the morning of December 4,1949. The warmest day for last month was 43 degrees set on Wednesday, December 16th.

The National Weather Service outlook for January in Iowa indicates that the month ahead will bring equal chances for precipitation and equal chances to below normal temperatures. Last January in Webster City, the average high temperature was 28 degrees with the average low of 6 degrees above zero.  In January,2025, there was just 2.6 inches of snowfall measured with 0.18 inches of melted precipitation or rain.
