ALGONA, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the long trek into Kossuth County to take on the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Algona High School. The Lynx girls entered at 2-3, while the Lynx boys entered at 1-1.
Algona would get off to a smothering start, limiting Webster City to just 7 first half points as the Bulldogs led 32-7 at the halftime break. The Lynx would put together better offense in the 2nd half, but Algona would keep them at bay for a 51-26 victory.
Evie Davis led Webster City with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Avery Poppen finished with 4 points for the Lynx. Kate Limbaugh led Algona with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
The boys game followed as Algona jumped on Webster City early as well, leading 18-8 after the first quarter and 34-16 at halftime. Webster City’s offense sprung to life in the 3rd quarter trailing 54-37 going into the 4th, but the Bulldogs would pull away in the 4th for a 75-48 victory.

Webster City basketball returns to action after the new year on Saturday, January 3rd, as they travel to Charles City to take on the Comets in non-conference action with tipoff at 2:30 PM.
