Roland-Story, South Hamilton and Eagle Grove compete in Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational on Saturday

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen, South Hamilton Hawks and Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling teams returned to action on Saturday, as they competed in the annual Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen, Hawks and Eagles were joined by Anamosa, Atlantic, Earlham, East Marshall, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Gilbert, Grinnell, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, North Polk, Ogden, Saint Ansgar, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Sheldon/South O’Brien, South Central Calhoun, Southeast Polk, Southeast Valley, St. Edmond, Williamsburg, Winterset and Woodward-Granger.

Roland-Story would place 10th in the tournament with 91 points and boasted the only area champion, as junior Caiden Latch won the 138-pound bracket, winning a 9-2 decision over Estherville-Lincoln Central’s Brody Olson in the final. Chance Georgius would place 4th at 190 pounds, losing his 3rd place match to Atlantic’s Donovan Hedrington by fall. Konnor Blume placed 5th at 113 pounds, winning his 5th place match over South Hamilton’s Mason Ostrem by an 8-7 tiebreaker. Brady Long would place 7th at 132, winning his placement match with a fall over Gilbert’s Layden Verville, as Roman Stotts placed 7th at 215, winning his placement match over Eagle Grove’s Reece Demuth by fall.

Eagle Grove placed 11th with 90 points, as their top placers were Dylan Terwilliger and Jayden Kreitlow. Terwilliger placed 3rd at 126, winning his placement match with a pin over Anamosa’s Wes Wheeler, who beat Terwilliger earlier in the tournament. Kreitlow also placed 3rd at 175, winning his placement match by fall over Southeast Polk’s Franklyn Harris. James Harle placed 5th at 285, winning his placement match over Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s Emmett Elling by fall, as Ethan Schreiber placed 6th at 106 and Christian Schild placed 6th at 190. Reece Demuth would place 8th at 215 as well.

South Hamilton would place 20th with 21 points as their lone placer was Mason Ostrem, who finished 6th at 113 pounds.

Roland-Story wrestling returns to action after the new year, when they travel to Des Moines to take on Saydel and South Hamilton in a HOIAC Tri-dual at Saydel High School on January 8th, beginning at 5:30 PM. South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on January 6th, when they travel to Southeast Valley for a quad meet at 6 PM. Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Monday, when they compete in a quad meet at Manson-Northwest Webster beginning at 6 PM.
