JEWELL, IA — The South Hamilton Community School District is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mrs. Abby Bublitz as the district’s next 7-12 principal, effective July 1, 2026.
Bublitz currently serves the Boone Community School District, with roles spanning 9-12
instructional coach and special education teacher. Previously, she held roles as a K–8 behavior
interventionist and special education teacher in Ames and Clear Creek Amana, where she led
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) work, developed districtwide behavior programs, and
facilitated staff training. Her earlier experience includes behavior interventionist, co-teaching and
self-contained special education roles in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, as well as work in a
residential facility supporting student reintegration into home districts.
Bublitz said, “I am truly excited and honored to join a district that is so deeply committed to
excellence. The genuine sense of welcome and strong student-first mindset stood out right
away. I look forward to growing alongside this incredible team and contributing to the district’s
continued success.”
Bublitz earned a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision of special
education from Viterbo University, with a minor in curriculum leadership, completing the
coursework required for PK–12 principal and PK–12 supervisor of special education/evaluator
licensure. She also holds a master’s degree in behavioral disabilities from Morningside College,
with preparation for the K–12 Strategist II BD/LD endorsement, and a bachelor’s degree in
kinesiology and health from Iowa State University, with preparation for endorsements in health
and physical education (K–12) and athletic coaching.
Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. Bublitz will
officially begin leading the South Hamilton Jr/Sr High School on July 1, 2026.
