WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx girls entered at 2-2, while the Lynx boys entered at 0-1.
Tuesday’s girls game would be another defensive battle for the Lynx, who led 8-4 after the first quarter, but Iowa Falls-Alden rallied for a big 2nd quarter and took a 16-12 halftime lead. The Cadets defense continued to cause problems in the 3rd quarter, as they led 23-14 headed into the 4th. Webster City would find offense in the 4th, but IF-A was able to keep them at arms length to pick up a 40-30 win.
Evie Davis had a monster night for Webster City, finishing with 19 points and 17 rebounds, as Lovie Pruismann and Avery Poppen added 4 points each. Elody England led Iowa Falls-Alden with 16 points.
The boys game followed as Webster City would lead a close one early, up 16-14 after the first quarter, before extending the lead to 31-23 at halftime. The Lynx then pulled away in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Cadets by a 19-2 margin to help clinch a 62-39 win.
Jaxon Griffith led Webster City with 20 points on the night, as Coyce Bertran added 17 points and Alex Staley added 12 points. Sam Turner lead Iowa Falls-Alden with 11 points.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Algona to take on the Bulldogs in North Central Conference action, with tipoff at 6 PM on AM 1570 KZWC on streaming online at kqradio.com.
