HUMBOLDT, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles girls wrestling teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to Humboldt to compete in the Michelle Jensen Memorial Tournament at Humboldt High School. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by the host Wildcats, as well as Baxter, East Sac County, Emmetsburg, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, GTRA, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Manson-Northwest Webster, Moravia, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun and West Bend-Mallard.
Webster City would finish 9th in the team standing with 73 points, as Kali Hartnett would place 3rd at 120 pounds, winning her 3rd place match by a 10-1 major decision over Humboldt’s Emilie Schriber. Lexi Mathes was 4th at 110 pounds, as Kearsyn Kite placed 4th at 115 pounds, with Kate Feltz placing 4th at 135 pounds. Ariana Wilson placed 5th at 130 pounds, winning by fall over Eagle Grove’s Keylee Collins in the 5th place match, as Abby Heckert was 5th at 170 pounds, winning by injury default in her 5th place match. Nevaeh Robinson would be 6th at 155 pounds.
Eagle Grove would place 10th with 70.5 points, as Marlee Thompson was the top finisher, placing 2nd at 115 pounds, losing her championship match by fall to GTRA’s Trista Guinn. Catherine Orozco would place 3rd at 100 pounds, winning her 3rd place match by medical forfeit over Humboldt’s Letty Jenson, as Keeley Peterson place 3rd at 155 pounds, winning by fall over South Central Calhoun’s Bella Dorsey in her 3rd place match. Keylee Collins would place 6th at 130 pounds, while Baylee Steig placed 6th at 140 pounds.
Webster City girls wrestling returns to action on January 5th, as they compete in an NCC quad with Clear Lake, Iowa Falls-Alden and West Fork at Clear Lake High School, beginning at 6 PM. Eagle Grove girls wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in a non-conference quad with Emmetsburg, Pocahontas Area and Western Christian at Emmetsburg High School, beginning at 6 PM.
