DES MOINES, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip to the Des Moines metro to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Grand View Christian Activities Center in Des Moines. South Hamilton’s girls entered at 2-2, while the boys entered at 0-4.
Grand View Christian’s girls would take an early lead on the Hawks, up 10-5 after the first quarter, a deficit that grew to 22-11 by halftime. After and evenly matched 3rd quarter, GVC pulled away in the 4th quarter for a 46-21 victory.
Kaylen Trask led South Hamilton with 8 points, as Tessa Skartvedt added 4 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Morgan Pelham led Grand View Christian with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The boys game followed as South Hamilton played well in the opening frame, leading the Thunder 10-8 after the first quarter. However, GVC flipped the script in the 2nd quarter and grabbed a 28-15 halftime lead. The Thunder wouldn’t look back from there as they raced to a 66-27 win.
South Hamilton stats were not available on Bound as of Monday morning, Brayden Hoben led GVC with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks.
