Roland-Story basketball sweeps Perry in road HOIAC doubleheader on Friday

PERRY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip to Dallas County to take on the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Dan Marburger Court in Perry. The Norse entered with a record of 2-1, while the Norsemen entered at 1-1.

Friday’s 1st quarter saw Roland-Story smother Perry defensively, as the Norse led 16-3 after the first quarter, nearly doubling the lead by halftime at 32-8. Roland-Story would cruise throughout much of the 2nd half to come away with a 55-26 win.

Riley Johnson led the Norsemen with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 11 steals and 3 assists, while Brinley Carlson added 11 points. Addison Perks led Perry with 9 points.

The boys game saw Roland-Story get off to a lightning fast start, leading the Bluejays 24-0 at one juncture, up 24-5 at the end of the quarter, as the Norsemen extended the lead to 44-17 at halftime. Roland-Story kept their foot on the gas in the 3rd before coasting for a 77-34 victory.

Luke Thoreson had a record setting night with a game-high 30 points, going 12-for-12 from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range. Eli Van Hove added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Gustavo Drahos led Perry with 15 points.
