Eagle Grove wrestling places 4th in Bob Roethler Invitational in Emmetsburg

EMMETSBURG, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the trip into Palo Alto County to compete in the annual Bob Roethler Invitational at Emmetsburg High School in Emmetsburg. The Eagles were joined by the host E-Hawks, as well as Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, GTRA, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, LeMars, Mason City, Okoboji/HMS, Pocahontas Area, Spencer, Spirit Lake Park, St. Edmond, Storm Lake, West Bend-Mallard and West Hancock.

Eagle Grove would place 4th in the tournament with 165 points, as Lake Mills won the tournament with 233 points. The Eagles would have one runner-up on Saturday, as Dylan Terwilliger placed 2nd at 126, losing a 20-11 major decision over Lake Mills Mason Helgeson in the final. Hayden Schafer would place 3rd at 157, winning his 3rd place match in a 4-2 decision over Lake Mills’s Caleb Skogen, as Jayden Kreitlow placed 3rd at 175, winning his 3rd place match in a 9-8 tiebreaker over Lake Mills’s Luke Fjeld, and James Harle placed 3rd at 285, winning his 3rd place match with a pin over Mason City’s Lincoln Ward.

Other placers for Eagle Grove saw Ethan Schreiber place 5th at 106, Hunter Waldo Martinez placed 5th at 132, Keegan Eisentrager placed 5th at 138, Colson Schafer was 5th at 144, Jackson Babcock was 5th at 150, as Christian Schild placed 5th at 190.

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Thursday night, when they travel to Manson-Northwest Webster for a quad dual with the Cougars, as well as North Union and West Bend-Mallard, with action beginning at 6 PM.
