Eagle Grove basketball drops Top of Iowa West doubleheader against Bishop Garrigan

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Golden Bears of Bishop Garrigan in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School. Eagle Grove’s girls entered at 1-3, as the Eagle Grove boys entered at 1-3 as well.

Garrigan’s girls would take control from the get out as they led 23-7 at the end of the 1st quarter, a lead which grew to 47-15 at halftime. Bishop Garrigan would keep their foot on the gas for the entirety of the game as they finished with a 93-22 victory.

Addy Pamperin led Eagle Grove with 5 points, while Holly Anderson and Taytum Edwards had 4 points each. Addyson Faris led Bishop Garrigan with 18 points.

The boys followed with a tough test against #2 Bishop Garrigan, with the game tied at 12-12 after the first quarter. The 2nd quarter would see a similar 12-12 frame as the game was tied at 24-24 at halftime. Garrigan then began to chip away was they took a 42-37 lead, before fully pulling away in the 4th for a 64-51 victory.

Adrian Whipple would lead Eagle Grove with 18 points and 3 assists, while Braylon Kling added 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Carter Schwab led Bishop Garrigan with 18 points and 5 assists.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Monday, when they host the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action with tipoff slated for 6:15 PM.
