Jewell City Council discuss wastewater issues with ISG this week at their meeting.

On Monday night, the Jewell City Council met with Nick Frederickson from ISG to answer questions and to discuss the potential wastewater repairs and projects. The city is in need of rehabbing the lagoon. The first step would be to obtain an engineering report, which was estimated to cost between $15,000 to $30,000 depending on the scope of the report. Jewell city council member Aaron Boor made the motion to approve moving forward with the wastewater preliminary engineering report of the whole system. The council approved the motion. The Jewell City Council voted Monday to terminate the water tower contract with Maguire Iron.

In another matter, the Jewell City Council approved the wages for EJS (Ellsworth Jewell Stanhope) officer Lantz Reed. The EJS Police Board approved already the salary to be at $63,000.

The Jewell City Council directed City Attorney Justin Deppe and Mayor Mick Walker to meet with Snyder and Associates one more time and to have confirmation of the finality of the Main Street Project final payment to Jet Drain.
