South Hamilton School Board faces a busy Monday agenda.

The South Hamilton Community School Board on Monday faced a lengthy agenda for the final meeting of the year. The board met with Nick Nugent of Emergent Architecture of Cedar Falls on the designs for the auxiliary gym at South Hamilton. No action was taken by the board on the selection for a new facility. There will be further discussion at a future school board meeting.

On Monday afternoon, the board met in a closed session for the screening of secondary principal candidates. Six candidates were interviewed by the board. The top three candidates will be interviewed on Tuesday, December 16th. The selected candidate will take over for retiring principal Todd Coy. He will be retiring at the end of the school year in late May.

The board welcomed newly elected board members Travis Anderson and Jay Moline. The two will serve on the district for the next four years. Leigh Miller was named the South Hamilton School Board president with Jay Moline named as board vice president. The board thanked Tony Babcock for his four years of service on the South Hamilton board as he is stepping down.Lisa Ziesman was named school board secretary and treasurer for the rest of the school year.

South Hamilton activities director Trever Ryen reported that the Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference principals and athletic directors are discussing ticket price increases for 2026-27 and noting that other conferences have higher ticket prices already.He also reported that winter athletic practices and competitions are underway.

Fundraiser for Skills USA and the South Hamilton Foundation for a Trivia Night were approved.

In personnel matters, the South Hamilton school board accepted resignations from High School football coach Paul Skartvedt, Junior High Boys Track Coach Derek Kleve, and High School Assistant Wrestling Coach Jesse Klein.

The board approved the hiring of Laken Zanker as a junior high boys track coach, Robyn Reisetter as a high school girls track coach, Brent Greenfield as assistant wrestling coach, and Jesse Klein as a volunteer wrestling coach.
