GRIMES, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip to the Des Moines metro to compete in the Andy Davidson Invitational at Dallas Center-Grimes High School in Grimes. The Lynx were joined by the host Mustangs, as well as ADM, Council Bluffs Lincoln, Des Moines East, Johnston, Lewis Central, Marion, Nevada, Saydel and Urbandale.
Webster City would place 7th with 85.5 points and have 2 runners-up in Eli Estlund at 190 lbs and Cody Elliott at 215 lbs. Estlund would go 2-1 with pin’s over Des Moines East’s Levi Sickels and ADM’s Jackson Hasty before getting pinned by DCG’s Kellen Wegner. Elliott would also go 2-1 with a pin over DCG’s Caden Hinders and a major decision over DCG’s Nolan Parrish, before losing a 4-2 decision to Urbandale’s Ethan Miller in the final.
Ty Bingham would place 3rd at 120, going 2-1, as Gavin Wynkoop also placed 3rd at 144, also going 2-1. Jaysen Vankham would place 6th at 138, as Sidney Walker placed 8th at 132.
Webster City wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in an NCC tri-dual with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Hampton-Dumont-CAL at Webster City High School, beginning at 6 PM.
