Eagle Grove wrestling places runner-up at Joe Fitch Invitational in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team returned to action on Friday afternoon, as they made the short trip west into Humboldt County to compete in the annual Joe Fitch Invitational at Humboldt High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Wildcats, as well as Creston, Emmetsburg, Forest City, Kumeper Catholic, Sheldon/South O’Brien and Van Meter.

Eagle Grove would place 2nd in the meet with 214 points, placing runner up to meet champion Humboldt. The Eagles crowned 3 champions, with Dylan Terwilliger winning at 126 pounds, as Terwilliger won by 20-2 tech fall over Creston’s Kyler Parsons in the final. Jackson Babcock won at 150 pounds, pinning Humboldt’s Caleb Vinsand in the 1st place match, as Hayden Schafer won the 157 pound bracket, pinning Forest City’s Aiden Frascht in 56 seconds to claim the title.

The Eagles saw a 2nd place finish from Jayden Kreitlow (175), 3rd place finishes from Ethan Schreiber (106), Hunter Waldo Martinez (132) and Caden Hauenstein (165), as Reece Demuth was 4th at 215 and Kylar Sisson was 4th at 126. Fifth place finishes were had by Keegan Eisentrager (138), Christian Schild (190) and James Harle (285), with a 7th place finish from Colson Schafer at 144.

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Northwood to compete in a Top of Iowa Conference quad dual with Northwood-Kensett, Nashua-Plainfield and West Fork, beginning at 6 PM.
