Webster City wrestling finishes Boone quad 1-2

BOONE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx wrestling team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the short trip south to compete in a quad meet at Boone High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Toreadors, Carroll Tigers and the Pleasant Valley Spartans.

Webster City opened with a 64-18 loss to the hands of the #10 team in Class 3A in Pleasant Valley. The Lynx’s wins came courtesy of a Gavin Wynkoop (144) pin, an Eli Estlund (190) pin and a Cody Elliott (215) forfeit. This was followed by a 54-26 loss to Boone in the 2nd dual, as Webster City picked up wins from a Sidney Walker (132) pin, a Gavin Wynkoop (144) decision, an Eli Estlund (190) pin, a Cody Elliot (215) tech fall, and a Cole Nohrenberg (285) pin.

The 3rd and final dual saw Webster City defeat Carroll by a score of 39-32, as the Lynx picked up pinfall wins from Angel Ramirez (106), Jaysen Vankham (138), Gavin Wynkoop (144), Andrew Vaughn (150), a decision from Eli Estlund (190) and forfeits for Lincoln Brookshire (113) and Ty Bingham (120).

Webster City wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the Andy Jacobson Mustang Invitational at Dallas Center-Grimes, beginning at 10 AM.
