HUMBOLDT, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into Humboldt County to take on the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Humboldt High School.
It would be a fast start for the Lynx as they jumped on the Wildcats by taking a 20-10 lead after the first quarter. Humboldt would then start narrowing the margin slowly, trailing 31-23 at halftime, cutting it to 42-36 after 3 quarters. Webster City’s offense would step up when needed in the 4th quarter to come away with a 62-54 victory, their first over the Wildcats since January 2020.
Sophomore Evie Davis had a monster night, recording 18 points and 18 rebounds, as Jaylyn Bahrenfuss added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Ava Fischer led Humboldt with 22 points.
Webster City girls basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Rockwell City to take on the South Central Calhoun Titans in non-conference action with tip-off at 6 PM.
