Eagle Grove basketball swept in conference openers at Forest City

FOREST CITY, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the drive into far northern Iowa to take on the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Forest City High School. The Eagle girls entered at 1-0, while the Eagle boys entered at 0-1.

The 9th-ranked Indians would jump on the Eagles from the get out, leading 29-6 after the first quarter. The Indians continued to build onto their lead, up 47-11 at halftime and 61-17 after three quarters. Backups would come in during the 4th as Forest City coasted to a 68-24 win.

Addy Pamperin led the Eagles with 11 points on Tuesday, as Myka Anderson added 8 points and 3 rebounds off the bench for Eagle Grove.

Eagle Grove’s boys followed looking to bounce back from an opening night loss to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, as offenses came out hot with Forest City leading 25-16 after the first quarter. Eagle Grove would cut into the deficit by halftime, trailing just 41-35 at halftime. Defenses began to shore up in the 2nd half, as Eagle Grove trailed 54-43 after 3 quarters, but couldn’t cut the margin closer than 6 in the 4th quarter as Forest City held for a 68-57 win.

Braylon Kling led Eagle Grove with 18 points off of 6 three-pointers, while Adrian Whipple and Gavin Pedersen added 15 points a piece.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Friday when they host the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action with tip-off at 6:15 PM from Eagle Grove Elementary School.
