A record tying high temperature and a whole lot of snow define Webster City’s November weather.

The month of November will go down as a month of heavy snow and a record tying high temperature for Webster City. The past weekend saw plenty of snow on Radio Hill with just over a foot measured from the time the snow arrived early last Friday evening up until early Sunday morning. As for measurable rain for the month, we ended up with 3.50 inches of rain and melted precipitation. The normal precipitation for November is at 1.90 inches but that all changed with the dumping of all the heavy snow. The weekend snowstorm disrupted travel for those coming back from Thanksgiving gatherings, cancellation of weekend worship services, and pre-Christmas shopping plans. Schools around the area are either running two hours late or have cancelled classes for this day after the Thanksgiving break. The Iowa DOT will join Hamilton County and Webster City snow plows and trucks today to remove the heavy snow from the weekend.

The average high for November in Webster City was 48 degrees. It was three degrees higher than the average high of 45 degrees. The average low for the past month was 27 degrees. Webster City’s warmest temperature for November was 73 degrees set the afternoon of November 14th. This was the same temperature set on November 14th,1964 and 1990 with 73 degrees. The lowest temperature for the month was 11 degrees set just last Friday, November 28th.

The National Weather Service outlook for Iowa for December indicates that the month will bring both below normal precipitation and temperatures. There was 2.5 inches of snow measured last December with 1.46 inches of either rain or melted precipitation due to the snow.
