Webster City girls basketball wins first season-opener since 2010 over Boone, 43-29

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team opened their 2025-26 season on Friday night, as they hosted the Boone Toreadors in non-conference action at Webster City High School.

Friday’s first quarter would be a back-and-forth affair, as the Toreadors led 14-11 after one quarter, but the offenses would grind to a halt from their as Boone led just 20-19 at halftime. The third quarter would see just 10 total points as Boone lead 25-24 going into the 4th, as Marty McKinney’s squad took over from there, outscoring the Toreadors 19-4 in the final frame for a 43-29 win.

Senior Alivia Burns was the top scorer, finishing with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, shooting 4/11 from the field and 2/5 from three. Sophomore Evie Davis had a big opening night, finishing with 9 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Lovie Pruismann would also contribute 8 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

Webster City girls basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they travel to Carroll to take on the Tigers in non-conference action with tipoff at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
