The enrollment numbers for the Webster City Community School District for the 2025-26 school year were made public during the Monday evening school board meeting. Superintendent Matt Berninghaus said the district’s certified enrollment amounted to 1732 students during the school census taken in October. There was a drop of 13 students from last year’s enrollment figure of 1745 students. Open enrollment for students coming into the district totaled 47 while those open enrolling out of Webster City totaled 134 students attending neighboring districts in South Hamilton, Fort Dodge, Eagle Grove and Iowa Falls-Alden. In the 2024-25 school year, there were 35 students open enrolled into the Webster City district while 135 students who open enrolled out of Webster City.
There was a public hearing last night on the proposed extension and renewal of the One-Way Whole Grade Sharing Agreement between the Stratford and Webster City school districts with no objections presented during the hearing.
The Webster City school board will take final action at their first meeting in December for a 28-E agreement for sharing girls wrestling between Webster City and with South Hamilton for the upcoming season. Webster City has had previous agreements with Fort Dodge and Clarion Goldfield Dows for girls wrestling.
There was also the second and third reading of policies for the board which were all approved. The board also accepted monetary donations Monday evening from the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd of Webster City for $100 to the Webster City School Nurse Fund and $100 toward the Sunset Heights School Lunch Debt Fund. There was also a $200 anonymous donation to the Webster City High School Music Boosters for the All-State Music Festival set for next week in Ames to assist the students participating from Webster City. The Webster City Art Club will have a holiday fundraiser for the sale of Christmas ornaments and a fund raiser for the High School Cheerleaders for the sale of cheer apparel.

The next Webster City Community School Board meeting will be on Monday evening, December 8th. This will be final board meeting for retiring board members Eric Patterson and Trey Seiser and the swearing in of incoming board members Kerry Jacobsen and Jerry Klaver and returning board member Dave Stoakes.
