2025 KQRadio All-Area Volleyball Teams and Awards

The 2025 volleyball season in the KQRadio area was a season chalked full of impressive individual performances, as well as teams who are on the rise to bigger and better things in 2026.

Player of the Year: Miley Geise, Jr. (Roland-Story)

  • 141 kills, .324 kill efficiency, 871 assists, 5 solo blocks, 25 block assists, 30 total blocks, 204 digs, 65 aces, 476 serve successes, 94.1% serve efficiency

Geise proved to be a jack-of-all-trades for Roland-Story in 2025, helping lead the Norsemen to their 2nd consecutive Heart of Iowa Conference title. Geise led the team in kill efficiency, aces and serve successes, as well as being one of the state’s top setters with nearly 900 assists.

Defensive Player of the Year: Evie Davis, So. (Webster City)

  • 125 kills, .161 kill efficiency, 30 solo blocks, 75 block assists, 105 total blocks, 19 digs, 4 aces, 18 serve successes

Davis emerged as one of the top attack blockers in all of Class 4A in 2025, tallying the first 100+ block season by a Lynx in the Bound era, the closest coming from Hannah Myers in 2014 with 99 blocks. Davis also finished with 125 kills in her first varsity season.

Coach of the Year: Shannon Skartvedt (South Hamilton)

  • 19-14 record, most wins in a season since 2018, top half finish in the HOIAC

Skartvedt helped lead a resurgence of South Hamilton volleyball in 2025, as the Hawks improved their win total by 12 games, finishing with their best record since a 24-8 campaign in 2018. South Hamilton also finished in the top half of the HOIAC with a 4-4 mark.

All-Area First Team

Outside Hitter: Brookelyn Jondle, Jr. (Roland-Story)

  • 355 kills, .234 kill efficiency, 50 assists, 3 solo blocks, 27 block assists, 30 total blocks, 326 digs, 48 aces, 259 serve successes, 86.3% serve efficiency

Jondle had a strong case to win player of the year for the 2nd consecutive year, but she easily claims a spot on the all-area first team, leading all area athletes with 355 kills. Jondle also finished 2nd on the team in digs with 326, showing her ability on the defensive side.

Middle Hitter: Maddi Lucas, Jr. (Roland-Story)

  • 212 kills, .317 kill efficiency, 8 assists, 16 solo blocks, 54 assists, 70 total blocks, 31 digs

Lucas may have been the top breakout athlete out of the 5 area schools in 2025, tallying 212 kills and holding the 2nd-best kill efficiency on the team after not playing a single set on the varsity roster in 2024. Lucas was also named 2nd-team all-conference.

Right-Side Attacker: Tessa Skartvedt, Jr. (South Hamilton)

  • 294 kills, .254 kill efficiency, 6 assists, 5 solo blocks, 18 block assists, 23 total blocks, 102 digs, 56 aces, 221 serve successes, 80.1% serve efficiency

Skartvedt put together her best season yet in helping lead South Hamilton to their first winning season since 2018. Skartvedt’s 294 kills was good for 3rd in the Heart of Iowa Conference, while her .254 kill efficiency was good for 5th in the conference, helping her garner 1st-team all-conference honors.

Outside Hitter: Tristyn Wright, Jr. (Webster City)

  • 282 kills, .197 kill efficiency, 95 assists, 4 solo blocks, 28 block assists, 32 total blocks, 200 digs, 12 aces, 144 serve successes, 87.8% serve efficiency

Wright emerged as an on-court leader for Webster City in 2025, finishing 2nd in the North Central Conference with 282 kills, while also playing as a versatile defender with 32 total blocks and 200 digs.

Libero: Morgan Hackbarth, Sr. (Webster City)

  • 9 kills, 39 assists, 446 digs, 27 aces, 240 serve successes, 95.2% serve efficiency

Hackbarth emerged as the top statistical libero in the North Central Conference in 2025, leading the conference with 446 digs, 100 more digs than the #2 athlete, as that total was also good for #5 in Class 4A. Hackbarth also proved to be an excellent server, leading the Lynx with 27 aces.

MH: Ella Finneran, So. (Clarion-Goldfield-Dows)

  • 98 kills, .116 kill efficiency, 4 assists, 12 solo blocks, 15 block assists, 27 total blocks, 33 digs, 13 serve aces, 188 serve successes, 89.1% serve efficiency

RS: Fiona Rott, Sr. (South Hamilton)

  • 117 kills, .194 kill efficiency, 7 assists, 1 solo block, 18 block assists, 19 total blocks, 60 digs, 39 aces, 202 serve successes, 84.9% serve efficiency

OH: Holly Anderson, Jr. (Eagle Grove)

  • 111 kills, -.003 kill efficiency, 6 assists, 3 block assists, 3 total blocks, 145 digs, 9 serve successes

Libero: Emma Lammers, So. (South Hamilton)

  • 5 kills, 46 assists, 335 digs, 1 ace, 20 serve successes

Setter: Lovie Pruismann, Jr. (Webster City)

  • 56 kills, .036 kill efficiency, 480 assists, 3 solo blocks, 25 block assists, 28 total blocks, 180 digs, 15 aces, 181 serve successes, 88.7% serve efficiency

Utility: Claire Hewitt, Sr. (South Hamilton)

  • 70 kills, .039 kill efficiency, 320 assists, 21 block assists, 21 total blocks, 219 digs, 36 aces, 376 serve successes, 94% serve efficiency
