CLARION, IA — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Community School District Board of Education has
named Jared Carder as the next district superintendent, pending board approval.
Carder currently serves as the PreK-8th grade principal for CGD, where he leads 775 students and 86
staff members. He has also been an elementary principal in both CGD and Eagle Grove, overseeing
initiatives to strengthen academic alignment, enhance communication, and support professional
growth.
During his time at CGD, Carder has become known for his genuine and approachable leadership
style, strong experience serving English as a second language (ESL) students, and dedication to
student growth and achievement.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to announce the selection of Jared Carder as our
next superintendent,” said Board President Troy Seaba. “Jared is a committed member of our team
already, and he has demonstrated an incredible dedication and passion for providing the best
possible learning experiences for our students. We look forward to seeing the impact he will make as
he assumes this district-wide leadership role.”
Before becoming an administrator, Carder was a physical education teacher and coach. In 2018, he
was named the SHAPE Iowa Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. He is completing
his superintendent endorsement through the University of Northern Iowa and has been active in the
School Administrators of Iowa Executive Committee and Lions Club International.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows
Community School District,” Carder said. “Having worked alongside our incredible staff and
community, I know the passion that drives this district forward. Together, we will continue to
strengthen student learning, celebrate our successes, and create new opportunities for growth and
excellence.”
Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. The board aimed to
conduct the search as early as possible to provide ample time for a transition to take place.
Carder will officially begin leading CGD as superintendent effective July 1, 2026.
