Roland-Story’s volleyball season ends at Humboldt in regional final, 3-1

HUMBOLDT — The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into Humboldt County to take on the Humboldt Wildcats in the Class 3A, Region 5 final at Humboldt High School. Roland-Story entered at 34-7 and ranked #10 in Class 3A, while Humboldt entered at 30-6 and ranked #5 in Class 3A.

Humboldt would control most of the opening set, keeping the Norsemen at arms length in a 25-20 win, as the Wildcats continued to strengthen that grip into set 2, leading 16-8. However, Roland-Story would rally to grab a 21-19 lead, but could not fully complete the comeback as Humboldt won 25-23. Roland-Story would then win set 3 25-23 to bring the match to 2-1, but Humboldt pounced early in set 4 and maintained control for a 25-18 set 4 win and a 3-1 victory.

The KQWC Player of the Game was Roland-Story junior Brookelyn Jondle, who finished with a game-high 24 kills, as junior Maddie Lucas had 10 kills and senior Caitlyn Flattebo had 6 kills in her final match.

Humboldt advances to face Cherokee, Washington in the first round of the 3A State Tournament on Tuesday, November 4th at 12 PM. Roland-Story’s season ends with a record of 34-8.
