Webster City cross country competes in NCC conference meet in Algona

ALGONA — The Webster City Lynx cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into Kossuth County to compete in the annual North Central Conference meet at River Road Golf Course. The Lynx were joined by Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, and St. Edmond.

Webster City’s boys would place 3rd as a team with 93 points, as senior Justin Callahan took home individual runner-up honors by placing 2nd in a time of 17:22.47, while Aidan Wardell was 17th in 18:39.73. Jack Barner would be 18th in 18:52.49, Kaleb Draeger was 26th in 19:19.96, as Gabe Thumma rounded out scoring in 30th with a time of 19:25.84.

The Lynx girls would finish 6th in the team race with 147 points, as junior Izzy Grossoehme was the top placer, finishing 6th in a time of 21:07.99, as McKenna Buakham was 31st in 24:38.40. Marlene Saavendra Mendoz was 33rd in 24:49.45, Julia Griep was 36th in 25:14.87, while Ruby Andrade-Murillo rounded out scoring in 46th with a time of 26:11.02.

Webster City cross country returns to action on Wednesday, October 22nd, when they compete in their Class 3A State Qualifying Meet hosted by Gilbert.
