Jewell- The South Hamilton Community School Board Monday evening met to approve a contract with Grundmeyer Leader Services of Huxley for a 7th through 12th grade principal search to begin in 2026-27. Todd Coy is the current principal. He was also the athletic director for South Hamilton for 26 years. The South Hamilton board approved a cooperative agreement with the Gilbert High School for the sharing of the girls wrestling program for the 2025-26. In personnel matters, the South Hamilton board accepted the hirings of Ben Heeren and Cole Swenson as Varsity Assistant Boys Basketball Coaches for next season.
In other matters at Monday’s meeting the South Hamilton School Board reviewed the FAST (Formative Assessment System for Teachers) and the ISASP ( Iowa State Assessment of Student Progress) assessment data from 2024-25 noting areas of strength and areas for improvement. The board approved the modified supplemental aid application for the Fiscal Year 2025 Special Education Deficit in the amount of $334,732.02. The South Hamilton board approved the application for Modified Supplemental Aid for the Fiscal Year 2025 Excess EL Costs in the amount of $19,878.07.
South Hamilton Secondary Principal Todd Coy reported that Homecoming Week was a success last week. He also commended the work by Amy Trask and the student council for their efforts in organizing the event from the coronation to the parade and dance. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for next week at South Hamilton. Preparations are underway to ready the HVAC system for the winter season. The plans for installing new agriculture classroom cabinets will begin at the end of October.Board members reviewed the attendance center and course enrollment data from 2024-25 at this week’s meeting. We should be finding out soon about the enrollment for the 2025-26 school year at South Hamilton. This will be discussed at a future meeting.
