Webster City, Eagle Grove, BK-CGD cross country teams compete in Dick Bell Invitational

EAGLE GROVE — The Webster City Lynx, Eagle Grove Eagles and BK-CGD Broncos cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday afternoon, as they competed at the Dick Bell Invitational at the Eagle Grove Golf Course. The Lynx, Eagles and Broncos were joined by Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, GTRA, Humboldt, North Iowa, South Hardin and West Fork.

Webster City would place top 3 in the boys race with 104 points on Tuesday, as senior Justin Callahan had a top 10 finish by placing 7th in a time of 17:47.48, while Aiden Wardell was 19th in 19:07.91. Jack Barner was 20th in 19:12.96, Gabe Thumma was 27th in 19:26.43, while Kaleb Draeger rounded out scoring in 33rd with a time of 19:42.73.

Eagle Grove was 7th with 181 points, as their top placer was Felix Gonzalez, who placed 21st in a time of 19:17, while Hunter Waldo-Martinez was 23rd in 19:18.85. Felix Gonzalez placed 46th in 20:00.34, Asarel Castro was 45th in 20:09.67, as Anthony Vasquez was 51st in 20:44.66.

BK-CGD was 11th with 301 points, as their top placer was Logan Torsell, who finished 46th in 20:17.83, while Leo Ertel was 56th in 20:56.50. Eduardo Rivera was 57th in 20:59.64, Sam Williams was 70th in 23:29.13, while Jose Vasquez rounded out scoring in 72nd in a time of 23:57.32.

Webster City’s girls would place 7th with 178 team points, as junior Izzy Grossoehme secured a top 10 finish by placing 10th with a time of 21:58.53, as McKenna Buakham was 34th in a time of 25:27.83. Julia Griep was 35th in a time of 25:31.32, Marlen Saavendra-Mendoza was 46th in 26:30.17, as Rubi Andrade-Murillo rounded out scoring in 53rd with a time of 27:30.83.

BK-CGD’s girls placed 9th with 194 points, as their top placer was Lila Swenson, who finished 18th in a time of 22:57.23, while Avery Boeshart was 28th in 24:31.12. Kendra Huedepohl placed 42nd in a time of 26:03.31, Johanna Perez was 45th in 26:24.87, as Adriana Toj Lopez placed 61st in a time of 28:35.62.

Eagle Grove would not compete as a team, as their top placer was Myka Anderson, who placed 22nd in 23:05.52, as Lydia Kienzle was 46th in a time of 25:42.45. Hailey Johnson placed 86th in 31:39.98, as Ruby Coldiron rounded out the lineup in 90th with a time of 32:33.31.

Webster City cross country returns to action next Tuesday when they compete in the North Central Conference meet in Algona. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Thursday when they compete in the Jim Klein Invitational at Jewell Golf and Country Club, as BK-CGD returns to action next Monday when they compete in the Forest City Invitational at Bear Creek Golf Course.
