(3A) #13 Roland-Story volleyball clinches back-to-back HOIAC titles in marathon with PCM, 3-2

MONROE — The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip to Jasper County to take on the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at PCM High School. Roland-Story entered at 21-7 and 6-0 in conference play, while PCM entered at 16-2 and 4-1 in conference play.

Roland-Story was able to take control in the first set for a 25-20 victory, but PCM would turn the tables and control the second set for a 25-17 win to even the match at 1-1. Set 3 would turn into a marathon, as Roland-Story rallied late to send the match into extra rallies, which wound up with PCM winning 31-29 and taking a 2-1 lead. The Norsemen would follow by regaining control in set 4 for a 25-19 win, before holding off the Mustangs in a winner-take-all 5th set for a 15-13 win and a 3-2 victory, clinching Roland-Story’s 2nd consecutive conference championship.

Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday, Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Tournament in Hampton, beginning at 9 AM.
