Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball swept at (3A) #6 Humboldt in NCC play, 3-0

HUMBOLDT — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip west on Highway 3 to take on the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Humboldt High School. CGD entered at 5-14, while Humboldt entered at 18-6 and ranked #6 in Class 3A.

Both sides went back-and-forth early in the first set 1, but Humboldt would grab control to take a 25-11 victory. Humboldt would strengthen their grip with a 25-10 win in set 2, before again dominating set 3 for a 25-12 win and a 3-0 sweep.

The KQWC Player of the Game for CGD was sophomore Ella Fineran, who finished with 4 kills, 2 blocks and an ace. Senior Claire Kirstein led the Cowgirls with 5 kills on Thursday.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Nashua-Plainfield for a non-conference tri beginning at 5 PM.
