South Hamilton volleyball downs West Marshall in HOIAC play, 3-2

JEWELL — The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action on Jim Marsh Court at South Hamilton High School. South Hamilton entered at 14-12, while West Marshall entered at 4-19.

Set 1 would be back and forth as the Hawks got ahead midway through the set, but West Marshall would rally to steal the opener 25-23. South Hamilton would control the 2nd set from start to finish for a 25-16 win, as set 3 saw the Hawks lead late, but a big rally from the Trojans allowed them to steal the set 26-24 and go ahead 2-1. West Marshall led a majority of the 4th set, but South Hamilton rallied to take the set win at 25-21, before a back-and-forth 5th set went to South Hamilton by a score of 15-13 with the Hawks winning 3-2.

The KQWC Player of the Game was Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with a career-high 26 kills and 3 aces, while Fiona Rott had 14 kills, 2 aces and a block.

South Hamilton volleyball returns to action next Monday when they travel to Ogden for the Ogden Tournament, beginning at 4:30 PM.
