Webster City volleyball holds off rally from St. Edmond, 3-2

WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 9-8 and 1-2 in league play, while St. Edmond entered at 6-9 and 2-1 in league play.

It would be a dominant start for the Lynx as they rolled the Gaels in the opener 25-10, as St. Edmond battled back in the 2nd set, but Webster City would hold them off for a 25-20 win to take a 2-0 lead. St. Edmond then began to battle back, winning set 3 in extra rallies at 26-24, before doing the same in set 4 and winning 27-25 to send the match to a winner-take-all 5th set. After an early back-and-forth, Webster City seized control to take a 15-7 win and a 3-2 victory.

Tristyn Wright would have a career-best night with 15 kills, 3 blocks and 18 digs, as Evie Davis finished with 10 kills and 9 blocks, and Kaitlyn Winkler finished with 6 kills and 2 blocks. Lovie Pruismann added 4 kills and 35 assists.

Webster City volleyball returns to action next Thursday, when they travel to Iowa Falls-Alden to take on the Cadets in North Central Conference action at 7 PM.
