STORY CITY — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as Roland-Story hosted their annual invitational at River Bend Golf Course in Story City. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Clear Lake, Greene County, Madrid, Nevada, North Polk, Ogden, Saydel, Southeast Valley and Woodward Academy.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 5th in the meet with 146 points, as their top placer was junior Kara Patterson, who finished 18th in a time of 21:21.12, as Sophie Bates was 23rd in 21:46.33. Gracey Haberl was 30th in 22:08.25, Brinley Carlson was 42nd in 22:49.15, as Hadley Carlson rounded out scoring in 45th with a time of 22:59.94.
South Hamilton’s girls finished 9th as a team with 279 points, as their top placer was Olivia Beaune, who placed 38th in a time of 22:36.08, as Cici Herrick was 60th in 24:01.12. Bianca Seaton was 86th in a time of 26:04.11, Kayley Zanker was 95th in 27:36.60, as Isabel Swenson rounded out scoring in 96th in a time of 27:46.78.
In the boys race, Roland-Story placed 9th with 242 team points, as Corbin Lucchesi grabbed a runner-up individual finish in a time of 16:41.75, as Henry Dahlsten was 45th in 18:53.69. Evan Byersdorfer was 52nd in 19:24.32, Dakota Lowe was 65th in 20:05.97, as Josiah Potratz rounded out varsity scoring in 21:12.76.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 13th with 301 team points, as Jesus Garcia was the top placer, finishing 13th in a time of 17:24.65, as Hayden Hill was 15th in 17:27.38. Kaden Greenlee was 88th in 22:22.79, Evan Gibson was 94th in 22:56.76 as Sterling Dietzel rounded out scoring in 94th in a time of 23:48.38.
Roland-Story and South Hamilton cross country return to action on Monday, when they compete in the Nevada Invitational at Hickory Grove Park in Colo.
