(3A) #14 Roland-Story sweeps South Hamilton in HOIAC rivalry matchup, 3-0

STORY CITY — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks volleyball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as the two long-time rivals renewed their series at Roland-Story High School in Heart of Iowa Conference action. Roland-Story entered at 15-7, 4-0 in league play and ranked #14 in Class 3A, as South Hamilton entered at 14-11 and 2-2 in league play.

Both sides swung well early in the first match, but Roland-Story would put together a dominant 13-0 run en route to a 25-8 win in the opener. South Hamilton battled back in set 2, but a mid-set run by the Norsemen allowed Roland-Story to grab a 25-16 win. Set 3 would see South Hamilton lead early by as much as 10-5, but a 10-0 run by the Norsemen gave them back control to clinch a 25-15 win and a 3-0 victory.

The KQWC Player of the Game for Roland-Story was junior Miley Geise, who finished with 11 kills, 30 assists, a block and an ace. Brookelyn Jondle and Maddi Lucas each finished with 11 kills as well.

The KQWC Player of the Game for South Hamilton was junior Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with 7 kills and 2 blocks, while Fiona Rott finished with 2 kills and an ace.

Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they host their home tournament at Roland-Story High School beginning at 4 PM. South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they host West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School with first serve at 6:30 PM.
