Webster City and BK-CGD cross country competes in Riverhawk Invitational in Mason City

MASON CITY — The Webster City Lynx and BK-CGD Broncos cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into Cerro Gordo County to compete in the Riverhawk Invitational at Mason City High School. The Lynx and Broncos were joined by the host’s Mason City, as well as Ames, Des Moines North, Fort Dodge, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, Newman Catholic, Waterloo East and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City’s boys would place 6th in a highly-competitive boys meet with 154 points, as their top placer was senior Justin Callahan, who finished 10th in a time of 17:30, as freshman Aidan Wardell placed 23rd in 18:26.6. Jack Barner was 31st in 18:42, Gabe Thumma was 39th in 18:54.7, as Kaleb Drager rounded out scoring in 59th with a time of 19:58.

BK-CGD was 12th in the boys race with 299 points, as their top placer was Nolan Muhlenbruch, who placed 41st in a time of 18:54.9. Logan Torsell was 66th in 20:12, Leo Ertel was 67th in 20:15.2, Eduardo Rivera was 74th in 20:52.6 as Samuel Williams was 91st in a time of 23:47.1.

Webster City’s girls would place 6th in the team race with 165 points, as Izzy Grossoehme finished 11th in a time of 21:33.4, and McKenna Buakham was 41st in 25:08.1. Haedyn Soesbe was 46th in 25:27.6, Juila Griep was 48th in 25:37.8, as Megan Vandeer rounded out scoring in 50th with a time of 25:44.1.

BK-CGD would finish 7th in the girls standings with 174 points, as their top placer was Lila Swenson, who finished 18th in 22:05.1, as Avery Boeshart was 27th in 23:26.3. Kendra Huedepohl was 42nd in 25:25.5, Johanna Perez was 53rd in 26:12.8 and Adriana Toj Lopez was 58th in 27:42.

Webster City cross country returns to action next Monday, when they compete at the Algona Invitational at River Road Golf Club in Algona. BK-CGD cross country returns to action next Monday, when they compete in the GHV Invitational at Garner Golf and Country Club.
