Hamilton County’s unemployment rate was down slightly for August. The Iowa Workforce Development office has announced the August rate was at an even 3 percent last month. In July, the rate was at 3.1 percent. The unemployment rate for Hamilton County in August,2024 was 2.7 percent. There were 7,660 people employed across Hamilton County for the month while 230 people were without work. In surrounding counties, the unemployment rate for Boone County was 3.4 percent, Franklin County at 3.6 percent, Hardin County at 3.4 percent, Story County at 3.2 percent, Webster County at 3.9 percent and Wright County at 3.1 percent. Iowa’s unemployment rate was at 3.8 percent for August up from the July figure of 3.7. percent. There were 1900 Iowans added to the payroll for jobs in August. The total amount of Iowans employed last month totaled 1,673,500 while there were 65,800 unemployed in the latest state figures.
