Webster City motorist escapes injury in Thursday morning motor vehicle accident.

Webster City Police investigated a one vehicle accident shortly before 8 Thursday morning. The accident happened in the 1300 block of Second Street. Reportedly a westbound 2018  model Dodge Jimmy SUV operated by Andrew Vaughn of Webster City swerved for another vehicle when it hit the brakes. The SUV continued to accelerate out of control, jumping the curb, striking a chain link fence, and came to rest in the yard at 1318 Second Street. When the vehicle struck the fence, it took out 4 to 5 poles along with the top rail of the fence.  Vaughn admitted that he did come from a driveway at Caseys on Second Street when he hit the SUV’s gas and lost control of his vehicle. There were no injuries. The damage to the Vaughn SUV was estimated at $4000 with the damage to the fence owned by Rick McCormick estimated at $3000. Investigating officer David Turpen cited Andrew Vaughn with Failure to Maintain Control and a written warning for failure to carry his physical Driver’s License while driving.
