CLARION — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls and Eagle Grove Eagles volleyball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as the two long-time rivals faced off once more at CGD High School in Clarion. Eagle Grove entered Tuesday at 4-8, while CGD entered at 3-8.
Clarion would dictate the tempo throughout much of the match, as the Cowgirls controlled the opening set to pick up a 25-16 win. Set 2 was much of the same as CGD controlled for a 25-15 win, but with the Cowgirls ahead 21-14 in set 3, Eagle Grove mounted a big rally that saw them lead by 1 very late, but CGD would comeback to clinch a 27-25 win and a 3-0 sweep.
Eagle Grove’s Player of the Game was senior outside hitter Kendra Schild, who finished with 7 kills unofficially, as CGD’s Player of the Game was senior outside hitter Jacqueline Kirstein, who finished with 7 kills as well.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they host St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at 7 PM. Eagle Grove volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Lake Mills to take on the Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at 7 PM.
