Webster City cross country competes in Dick Pollitt Classic in Waverly

WAVERLY — The Webster City Lynx cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip to Bremer County to compete in the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic at the Max Championship Cross Country Course in Waverly. The Lynx were joined by the host Go-Hawks, as well as Clarksville, Columbus Catholic, Crestwood, Denver, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Grundy Center, Hudson, Independence, Iowa Falls-Alden, Janesville, Marion, Mason City, New Hampton, Riceville, Tripoli, Wapsie Valley, Waukon and West Delaware.

Tuesday’s meet was not scored, as the first event up was the Girls 9th/10th 5K run, as McKenna Buakham was the top placer at 46th in a time of 25:40.9, while Haedyn Soesbe was 47th in 25:43.0. Rubi Andrade-Murillo was 61st in 27:23 and Jessica Utera was 67th in 28:02.7.

In the 11th/12th Girls 5K, Izzy Grossoehme was 25th in a time of 22:24, as Julia Griep was 70th in 25:39.4. Megan VanDeer was 71st in 25:39.5, as Abby Peterson was 98th in 29:00.7.

The boys meet would run the 9/10 5K first, as Webster City’s top placer was Aidan Wardell, who was 11th in 18:32.4, as Kaleb Draeger was 29th in 19:36.9. Jordan Betts was 49th in 21:04, while Tariq Burton was 54th in 21:19.1.

In the 11/12 Boys 5K, Justin Callahan secured a top 10 finish, placing 8th in a time of 17:42.1, as Gabe Thumma was 16th in 18:19.1. Jack Barner was 26th in 18:38.2, as Arlen Lake was 43rd in 20:08.1.

Webster City cross country returns to action on September 23rd, as they compete in the Riverhawk Invite at Mason City High School, beginning at 6:15 PM.
