South Hamilton school board welcome new staff at Monday evening school board.

With the new school year in full swing, the South Hamilton School Board on Monday evening were introduced to the new teaching staff for the 2025-26 school year. The new staff includes High School Social Studies teacher Sybil Below,7th through 12th grade School Counselor Joeigh Eaton, 7th to 12th grade Special Education teacher Jamie Reisetter, 7th and 8th grade Math teacher Robyn Reisetter and ELL instructor Yadira Hernandez. The South Hamilton board approved the plans to sell FFA Fruit for the upcoming holiday season starting in October. A cooperative agreement with Northwest Missouri State for teacher education candidates for practicum, field experience,student teaching or internship was approved at Monday’s board meeting.The DMACC (Des Moines Area Community College) Consortium Agreement was approved for the South Hamilton district to utilize the credit recovery program.  11 students in the South Hamilton FFA program will travel to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis between October 29th through November 1st. The South Hamilton school board approved the travel request for the FFA.

In other matters, the South Hamilton school board appointed Lisa Ziesman as the school board secretary and treasurer for the 2025-26 school year. South Hamilton school board president Leigh Miller and board secretary Lisa Ziesman will be the authorized signatories and Superintendent Heather Holm and Administrative Assistant Michelle Oskvig as the alternate signatories  for the school district for 2025-26. Secondary principal Todd Coy informed the school board that the year is off to a positive start for South Hamilton with few issues arising from the implementation of the new cell phone policy. The enrollment numbers in electives and i-JAG program are strong heading into the new academic year. Elementary principal Steve Neuberger announced to the board there are 45 enrolled in kindergarten, 45 in first grade, 50 in second grade, 45 in third grade, 54 in fourth grade and 51 in sixth grade.

In personnel matters, the South Hamilton school board approved the hiring of Mindey Hetland as a junior/senior High School Education Associate and Landon Davidson as an Elementary Special Education Associate. Nomination papers for the November 4th school board election in South Hamilton are due September 18th at 5:00 p.m.
