BELMOND — The Eagle Grove Eagles volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip to the northeastern corner of Wright County to take on the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Top of Iowa West action at Belmond-Klemme High School. Eagle Grove entered at 2-6, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 0-2.
Thursday’s match would be tightly contested the entire way, as both squads traded points in the first set, before Eagle Grove would be the ones to pull away late to grab a 25-21 win. Belmond-Klemme would bounce back in set 2, and lead Eagle Grove by as much as 20-14 late, but the Eagles would rally and send the set into extras, as it was Eagle Grove that overcame the deficit for a 28-26 win. Eagle Grove would then control the 3rd set en route to a 25-19 win, a 3-0 victory and the Eagles first win over Belmond-Klemme since 2018.
The KQWC Player of the Game was Eagle Grove senior Kendra Schild, who finished with 9 kills and 2 aces on the night, as junior Holly Anderson finished with a game-high 10 kills. With the win, Eagle Grove also matched their win total from 2024, as the Eagles finished 3-16.
Eagle Grove volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Greene County to take on Paton-Churdan in non-conference action at 7 PM.
