Know The Foe Week 2: Eagle Grove vs. Ogden

The Eagle Grove Eagles football team returns to action on Friday night, as they welcome in the Ogden Bulldogs for their non-district home opener at Gene Hinrichsen Field in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove enters at 1-0, while Ogden enters at 1-0 after an 18-0 victory over Perry. Friday’s meeting is the 7th all-time meeting between the 2 programs, as Eagle Grove leads the all-time series 4-2 dating back to 2010. Ogden did win the most recent meeting in 2019 by a score of 59-0.

Ogden opened their 2025 season with a grind-it-out, 18-0 win over a 3A foe in the Perry Bluejays, as the Bulldogs did nearly all of it’s damage through the air. Senior quarterback CeJay Jones threw for 246 yards and a touchdown, but 3 interceptions in Week 1, after throwing for nearly 1,800 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024. Jones top receiver in the win over Perry was senior Keagan Ristvedt, who had 12 catches for 65 yards, surpassing his entire season total from 2024. Last year’s leading receiver Tyler Lass did not play in the Week 1 game with Perry, but the rest of the Bulldogs receiving core did pick up the loss of production. Running back Cayden Dudley is someone that can be dangerous on the ground and in the passing game if the Bulldogs front can open up lanes for him. Ogden’s offensive line does have a number of starters back as well from 2024.

On the defensive side, the Bulldogs had a prosperous week one against Perry, recording 18 tackles for loss and 9 sacks against a very young Bluejays team. Cayden Dudley is an absolute force at defensive end, recording 8.5 tackles, 5.5 TFL and 4 sacks against Perry, as Landon Alexander is another name to watch up front. In the linebacking core, the Bulldogs return leading tackler Carson Mueggenberg, who had 10 tackles, 6 TFL and 2.5 sacks against Perry, as other names to watch in the linebacking core include junior Dillon Moe and freshman Zach Crosman. A big key for the Bulldogs will be slowing down Eagle Grove’s X-factor Gavin Pedersen at receiver, as a young defensive backfield will have a big test with the likes of Treyton Mitchell, Keagan Ristvedt and Ryder Eklund.

Eagle Grove looks to build off of the first season-opening win since 2017. A big focus for the Eagles offense will be staying ahead of the chains and establishing fullback Trenton Robinson to keep an aggressive Ogden front on their heels. The Eagle Grove defense will have opportunity to put big pressure on CeJay Jones, while the defensive backs need to keep the Ogden receivers in front of them.

Kickoff is slated for 7 PM on Friday Night from Gene Hinrichsen Field in Eagle Grove.
