WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City Lynx, South Hamilton Hawks, Roland-Story Norsemen, Eagle Grove Eagles and BK-CGD Broncos cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they all competed at the annual Lynx Invitational at the Links Golf Course in Webster City. The 5 schools were joined by Algona, Ballard, Boone, Fort Dodge, Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Manson-Northwest Webster, Nevada, Southeast Valley, St. Edmond and Waverly-Shell Rock.
Webster City’s boys finished 5th in the Purple Division with 132 points, as Justin Callahan was the Lynx’s top placer, finishing 15th in a time of 17:59.70, as Jack Barner as 23rd in a time of 19:00.45. Gabe Thumma was 27th in 19:09.04, Aiden Wardell was 28th in 19:09.77, as Arlen Lake was 39th in 20:22.13.
In the Gold Division, Roland-Story was the top placing area squad by placing 5th with 126 points. Junior Corbin Lucchesi secured a top 5 finish by placing 4th in a time of 17:22.97. Henry Dahlston was 15th in a time of 19:12.21, Evan Byersdorfer was 22nd in 20:13.77, Dakota Lowe was 37th in 21:30.30, as Josiah Potratt rounded out varsity scoring by placing 48th in 23:24.33.
Eagle Grove’s boys were 6th with 151 points, as they secured a top 10 finish from Hunter Waldo-Martinez, who placed 8th in a time of 18:35.45, as Felix Gonzalez was 25th in a time of 20:28.80. Asarel Castro was 33rd in a time of 20:53.58, Cooper Thacker was 41st in 21:55.22 as Anthony Vasquez rounded out scoring by placing 44th in 22:21.07.
South Hamilton’s boys placed 8th with 169 points, as the Hawks saw two, top-10 finishers on Tuesday. Jesus Garcia was 6th in a time of 17:41.49, as Hayden Hill finished right behind him in 7th in a time of 17:57.53. Evan Gibson was 49th in a time of 23:47.58, Trevor Zanker was 53rd in 24:16.13, as Kaden Greenlee was 54th in 24:28.97.
BK-CGD was 9th in the Gold Division with 174 points, as sophomore Nolan Muhlenbruch was the top placer for the Broncos by finishing 21st in 20:09.92, as Eduardo Rivera was 30th in 20:41.40. Leo Ertel was 36th in a time of 21:07.13, Logan Torsell was 40th in 21:50.57, as Sam Williams rounded out scoring in 47th in 23:17.71.
In the girls meet, Webster City would place 5th with 123 points, as junior Izzy Grossoehme was the top placer, finishing 14th in a time of 22:16.92, as Mckenna Buakham placed 28th in 25:56.76. Julia Griep was 29th in 25:59.59, Megan VanDeer was 31st in 26:11.22, as Marlen Saavendra-Mendoza was 35th in 27:58.65.
In the Gold Division, Roland-Story captured the Gold Division title for the 3rd year in a row, winning with 38 points, as 4 of their 5 varsity scorers finished in the top 10. Kara Patterson placed runner-up in a time of 21:53.48, as Gracey Haberl placed 4th in 22:40.62 and Sophie Bates placed 5th in 22:42.49. Brinley Carlson was 10th in a time of 23:41.79, as Hadley Carlson placed 17th in 24:11.95.
BK-CGD was 5th with 134 points, as Lila Swenson placed 3rd in a time 22:20.15, as Avery Boeshart was 19th in 24:33.75. Johanna Perez was 30th in 26:43.15, Kendra Hudepohl was 36th in 27:36.47, as Adriana Toj Lopez rounded out scoring in 46th in 28:51.58.
South Hamilton placed 6th with 135 points, as their top placer was senior Olivia Beaune, who placed 11th in a time of 23:45.12, as Cici Herrick was 15th in a time of 23:59.72. Bianca Seaton was 32nd in a time of 26:56.47, Isabel Swenson was 38th in 27:45.77, while Kayley Zanker rounded out scoring in a time of 27:48.52.
Eagle Grove would place 9th in the meet with 202 points, as their top placer was sophomore Myka Anderson, who finished 13th in 23:55.24, as Lydia Kienzle was 31st in a time of 26:48.70. Ingrid Pull was 50th in 29:35.68, Ruby Coldiron was 53rd in 32:07.11, while Hailey Johnson rounded out scoring in 55th in 34:37.32.
Webster City cross country returns to action next Tuesday, as they’ll run at Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawk Invite at 6 PM. South Hamilton returns to action next Thursday for the Gilbert Invitational at the Iowa State cross country course in Ames. Roland-Story cross country returns to action next Thursday for the Greene County Invitational at Spring Lake Park in Jefferson. Eagle Grove and BK-CGD cross country return to action next Tuesday as BK-CGD hosts their home meet at Belmond Country Club.
