(3A) #7 Roland-Story dominates Saydel in HOIAC opener, 3-0

DES MOINES — The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to the Des Moines metro to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. Roland-Story entered at 7-2 and ranked #7 in Class 3A, while Saydel entered at 1-2.

Roland-Story would dominate from the get-out, as the Norsemen started the match on a 9-0 run, which included 4 aces from junior setter Miley Geise. The Norsemen would dominate set 1 by a score of 25-14, before piling on a 25-10 win in set 2. Set 3 would be back and forth to start, but Roland-Story would pull away late for a 25-15 win and a 3-0 sweep.

Tuesday’s Player of the Game was Roland-Story junior setter Miley Geise, who recorded 3 kills, 26 assists and a game-high 7 aces. Brookelyn Jondle recorded 13 kills, a block and an ace, which was her 100th career ace. Maddi Lucas added 6 kills, as Caitlyn Flattebo, Alli Janes and Emma Truesdell all had 5 kills.

Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they travel back to Des Moines to face the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 6:30 PM.
