FORT DODGE — The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the short trip west on Highway 20 to compete in the annual St. Edmond volleyball tournament hosted at Iowa Central Community College. The Lynx were joined by the Gaels, as well as Aplington-Parkersburg, Bishop Garrigan, Pocahontas Area, Southeast Valley.
The Lynx would open Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Bishop Garrigan with sets of 21-10 and 21-15, as Jaylyn Bahrenfuss and Evie Davis each had 5 kills, while Tristyn Wright had 4 kills and 10 assists. This was followed by another 2-0 sweep by Webster City, this time against Pocahontas Area with sets of 21-9 and 21-16. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss, Lovie Prusimann and Tristyn Wright all had 3 kills, as Evie Davis recorded 3 blocks.
Southeast Valley would then upend Webster City in their 3rd match of the day, as the Jaguars won 2-0 with sets of 21-9 and 21-19, before Webster City rebounded with a 2-0 win over St. Edmond with sets of 22-20 and 21-17. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss had 7 kills, as Evie Davis added 4 blocks. The Lynx then dropped their final match of the day to an undefeated Aplington-Parkersburg squad by a 2-0 final with sets of 21-18 and 21-11.
Webster City volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they open North Central Conference play with a road trip to Algona to take on the Bulldogs with first serve at 7 PM.
