Webster City football dominates Iowa Falls-Alden in season-opener, 42-8

WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City Lynx football team opened their 2025 regular season on Friday night, as they hosted the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in non-district action at Lynx Field in Webster City. Friday’s matchup was the first time the 2 North Central Conference rivals had met since 2017.

It was a sloppy start for both sides in the first quarter as Webster City coughed up the football early, followed by Iowa Falls-Alden quarterback Karsen Kalous having a pass tipped and picked off. Following that pick, the Lynx drove the short field and took the initial lead with a 13-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Hansen to take a 7-0 lead. The Lynx would take that lead into the 2nd and began to expand it, as Aidan Hrnicek found Jaxon Griffith for a 23-yard touchdown pass to put Webster City ahead 14-0. Following a goal-line stand, Webster City would march the field and cap a 90-yard drive with an Aidan Hrnicek 28-yard touchdown run to put the Lynx ahead 20-0 after a blocked PAT. Iowa Falls-Alden fumbled the ball on their ensuing possession as the Lynx turned the turnover into points once more as Aidan Hrnicek scored from 4 yards out to put the Lynx ahead 27-0 at halftime.

Webster City would fumble on the opening possession of the 2nd half, but limited things to no damage as the Lynx 2nd possession of the half resulted in a 6-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Hansen, as Hansen also punched in the 2-point conversion to make the score 35-0. The Lynx would put the finishing touches on things with an Edwin Nolasco Ramos 17-yard touchdown run, as a late Iowa Falls-Alden touchdown sealed a 42-8 win for Webster City.

The Lynx offense would churn up 346 yards rushing on Friday, as Kaleb Hansen led all rushers with 18 carries for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns, as Aidan Hrnicek also passed the century mark with 104 yards on 12 carries and 2 touchdowns. Jaxon Griffith would have a receiving touchdown, as well as 62 rushing yards, with 5 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception on defense.

Webster City football returns to action on Friday, when they host the Fort Dodge Dodgers in non-district action at Lynx Field with kickoff at 7 PM.
