Roland-Story volleyball goes 4-2 in Skip Anderson Classic in Bondurant

BONDURANT — The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip into Polk County to compete in the Skip Anderson Classic at Bondurant-Farrar High School. The Norsemen were joined by the host Cadets, as well as Ames, Ankeny Christian, Denver, Des Moines Roosevelt, Gilbert, Indianola, Knoxville, North Polk, North Tama, Pella Christian, Red Oak, Urbandale and Winterset.

Roland-Story opened Saturday with a 2-0 win over Winterset (21-13, 21-19) as Brookelyn Jondle and Caitlyn Flattebo each had 6 kills, as Miley Geise had 2 kills, 20 assists and 3 aces. The Norsemen then fell to (4A) #3 Pella by a 2-0 margin (14-21, 19-21) as Brookelyn Jondle and Caitlyn Flattebo each had 4 kills. Roland-Story would wrap-up group play with a 2-1 loss to Red Oak (21-18, 17-21, 21-23), as Brookelyn Jondle had 12 kills, 3 aces and 15 digs, Caitlyn Flattebo had 10 kills, while Miley Geise had 7 kills and 28 assists.

Moving on to bracket play, the Norsemen shutout Pella Christian 2-0 (21-11, 21-14), as Brookelyn Jondle tallied 3 kills and a block, while Miley Geise had 18 assists and 3 aces. Roland-Story then dispatched of county rival Gilbert with a 2-0 win (21-15, 21-14) as Brookelyn Jondle had 9 kills and Maddi Lucas added 7 kills, as the Norsemen closed the day with a 3-set win over Des Moines Roosevelt (16-21, 21-14, 15-6) as Caitlyn Flattebo tallied 9 kills and Alli Janes added 6 kills.

Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they travel to Des Moines to take on Saydel in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first serve at 6:30 PM.
