Webster City volleyball outlasts Boone in 5 sets, 3-2

BOONE — The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip south into Boone County to take on the Boone Toreadors in non-conference action at Boone High School. Webster City entered at 3-1, while Boone was in their season-opener.

Webster City would get off to a good start, taking the opening set 25-19, before jumping out to an early lead in set 2. However, the Toreadors battled back to steal the 2nd set in a 25-23 win and tie the match at 1-1. The Lynx rebounded with a 25-21 win in set 3, before Boone rebutted with a 25-21 win in set 4 to send the match to a winner-take-all 5th set. Webster City took an early lead in set 5 before Boone battled to tie it at 9-9, but a late Lynx push put Webster City in the win column with a 15-11 decision and a 3-2 win.

The Player of the Game for Webster City was junior Tristyn Wright, who tallied 16 kills, 16 assists, 5 blocks and an ace, while sophomore Evie Davis had a break-out night with 11 kills and 8 blocks. Jalyn Bahrenfuss added 6 kills and 5 assists.
